Wicked Day #5

Last Sunday I saw Wicked for a fifth time.

Husband and I decided to do the lottery since we’ve never done it before and $25/ticket for front row? Hell yeah! So we got there early and placed our names in the lottery and went across the street to get some Burger King before we both got hunger headaches. We then waited for them to draw the names.

Our names didn’t get drawn. In fact, the majority of the names that did get drawn were papers that were crumpled up and the people who won were the group of girls there for Teal Wicks last performance. So husband and I ended up buying tickets. Which sucked, but I had my heart set on seeing Wicked either way.

We had a two hour wait before the show so we went to the car, finished eating, talked, napped, woke up (we have a thing for sleeping in the car, you get use to it when you’re constantly pressed for time) and headed to the show. We got “limited” seats but uh, we were in the 3rd row! Didn’t seem very limited to me! In fact, we were so close up and you could see the facial expressions and the detail on the costumes! It was amazing. Wicked was a whole different show from where we were sitting! I spotted Nicolas Dromard in “No One Mourns The Wicked” and I also spotted DeeDee Hall! Husband played the “where’s Neka Zang” game every scene. I was bad a spotting her, those costumes are tricky! Haha.

So yes, like I said, it was Teal Wicks (SF productions main Elphaba)’s last day and she went through all of Act 1 just fine until… she hit the last note in “Defying Gravity” and stopped mid-note. In Act 2, Vicki Noon (the standby for Elphaba) took over. Vicki Noon is my favorite Elphaba! She did an amazing job for someone who had to jump in last minute. And of course, they had curtain call where Etai managed to make DeeDee slip and fall while they were running up (eep!) and where Kendra gave Teal her curtain call speech. It was the first “last” performance I’ve been to and the first show were there were no subs (besides in Act 2), yay!

Headed to Stage Door after debating if I should or not (a lot of people were there to see Teal Wicks). Chatted with Neka about Lush and beauty products lol. Nicolas looked confused when he got to us haha. Finally got to take a picture with both of them! They were talkin about something and husband was like “go take a picture with them” so I jumped in the middle during them talking and Nicolas was like “oh! picture? okay!” haha! Met Teal for the first time ever and missed taking a picture with Vicki, darn! Said bye to Neka and Nicolas on the way out and passed by them again on the way back to the BART station lol!

Went and had lunch/dinner and this amazing Thai place we discovered. Their brown fried rice is a m a z i n g. Seriously, its heavenly! Walked around the mall a bit and then went home!

Neka (ensemble/witch’s mother), me, Nicolas (Fiyero)

Me, Teal (Elphaba) and Vicki (in the background. Elphaba standby)

DELiCiOUS Pad Thai and Fried Rice!

This passed week…

I cant believe I didnt update on anything new from last week! So I’m going to do it today, and with pictures. Because I havent posted a post with pictures in awhile (sorry about that! As you can tell, it’s been a bit crazy over here)!

So last Tuesday, we went into Sprint looking at phone’s. I had a question actually, I dont remember exactly why we were there… but anyway, we ended up switching providers! So yes, I finally got my Palm Pixi! I am in love with it. Seriously, I’m always on my phone now. I totally forgot I still have my T-Mobile Sidekick lol! So yes, Tuesday was a good day :). Husband also switched with me, he got the HTC Hero. I’m jealous over how many more apps the Hero has, but I hate the way the phone looks. I’m not a fan of bulky PDA’s with huge screen and touchscreen keyboards. Oh, I also got Panera Bread for dinner. I destroyed that dinner quicker than I usually do lol!

Wicked Day!

I was going to include this in my recap of last week, but I figured… there’s kind of a lot of pictures so maybe I’ll just make it it’s own post :).

So I saw Wicked for the 4th time on Wednesday. I was trying to get tickets for Sunday or Saturday since Sunday was Patty Duke (Madame Morrible) and Eddy (Boq)’s last day but the tickets I wanted for those two days were sold out so I just settled for Wednesday, besides, I’ve never seen Teal Wicks as Elphaba, so I figured, why not.

Once again, we were almost late. We tend to do that a lot! And our usual parking lot was full so we had to park across the street. We made it in time though, with literally one minute to spare. Thank goodness! The show was amazing as always, Eddy did really well as Boq and it made me sad that he’s leaving. I love how Patty screams all the way behind Nessarose when Elphaba introduces herself hehe.

Husband and I skipped eating cause we were running out of time so we were pretty hungry by intermission. Got both M&M’s and Famous Amos cookies (which btw are delicious, I forgot how delicious) oh and used the bathroom. Everyone commented on my little witch hat :). Tweeted Nicolas and Neka literally right before the curtain went up (wasnt aware) and I was like “aw, they didnt see it” cause they were on stage LOL!

Teal. I loved her acting. I loved the way she mocked Glinda (who was played by Natalie that day and I LOVED Natalie as Glinda, she looked like she was not holding back at all! She was really fun to watch) and there was another part of hers that I loved, I forgot what but Vicki is still my favorite Elphie! Husband disagrees with me, he loved Teal as Elphie lol.

After the show, of course we headed down to Stage Door. In fact, we were the first ones there lol.

Nicolas came out first and he was signing peoples Playbills and he saw me and he was like “HEY ZEL!” and I was surprised he remembered me by name! Chatted for a bit and took a picture. He also commented on how much he liked my hat lol.

The wonderful and talented Patty Duke and I! She’s so tiny up close! I was like “I heard you’re leaving!!” and she nodded and I was like “whyyy?” and she responded “you gotta go home sometime!” aww we’ll miss you Patty!

Natalie and I! My new favorite Glinda, except sadly her last day was Sunday too :(. I actually thought she was Nessarose when I saw her. I feel dumb! Haha. But I’m glad to had met her either way :).

Neka and I! She plays ensemble and the witch’s mother. She came out looking for Nicolas and she looked at me and I looked at her and I didnt know if it was her or not… so I ran up to her, poked her and said “are you Neka?” and she was like “are you…. zel?” haha it was weird but funny. So husband and I chatted with her for awhile, he snitched on Nicolas walking off with two other girls lol. She’s really friendly and really cool to talk to! And she really took the time to talk to us, it was really nice! She also mentioned that her and Nicolas were planning on coming out together to say hi to me, awww!

Then Nicolas comes back after Neka heads back inside and I’m talking to my husband and he comes up and pokes me and I dont see him and I’m like “ah! who’s poking me!” and Nick asked if Neka came out to say hi and the husband mentions he snitched on him walking off lol!

I love how this poster stretches all the way down to Stage Door!

After Wicked, we went to Bay Street and I got my Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows (goodness that’s a long name)!!! It’s really nice and spiffy and Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite movies and all but… I dont think $53 is worth it. That’s  a lot of money! I havent played around with it yet and I’m kinda glad I returned all my other Urban Decay palettes last year so I dont really have these colors. But I’ll do a review once I play with it some more!

And that was my day :).

Wicked Day!

Let me start with the other day.

I attempted to make my first ever Egg Salad Sandwich. I dont know how to boil eggs. I bake, not cook! So me and Martin were trying to figure out how to boil an egg and this conversation came about:

Martin: You have to turn it up, all the way up
Me: But then the water is going to boil!
Martin: Well it is called a hard boiled egg!

Well, you have a point my dear husband but I dont think they literally mean the water has to boil that much. And of course, one of our egg’s popped. Goodness.

In the end, all the eggs were perfectly boiled and the Egg Salad Sandwich mission was a success. I paired it with my favorite homemade salad drenched in Zesty Italian dressing, yum!

I added chopped olives and bacon to the sandwich thinking it was going to be epic, but you could barely taste it. I blame the mayo!

It’s been really windy at night lately around here (and foggy). And really windy nights scare me :(

I spent the night eating another bowl of salad on my laptop. I was tempted to read more of my book, but I didnt. Husband was next to me playing Mafia Wars on Facebook. Pffft.

Yesterday was Wicked Day!!!

I went to see Wicked yesterday with my sister in law and my husband :) we got there early this time! Last time and Martin went we had 2 minutes to get to our seats so we made sure to leave super early this time!

And we found Stage Door, yay!

Vicki Noon wasnt playing Elphaba. I was bummed about that, but I really liked Angel Reda as Elphaba too! Tim was also playing Dr. Dillamond instead of Tom (which I found out today that tonight’s show was Tom’s last performance). There was also a different person playing the Wizard, over all I did enjoy the show. As I always do :)

After the show me and Marissa ran down to Stage Door and there was already a bunch of people there! I got Eddy (who plays Boq) to sign my PlayBill. He has a really really nice smile and he’s a cutie! I also got Tim to sign it. Then came Nicolas Dromard! I was so excited haha! He signed my PlayBill and I mentioned I was Marie and introduced my husband to him. Talked to him for a bit and got another picture :).

Then Angel Reda came out! She came out quick too, I heard normally Elphaba’s take awhile to come out since they have to shower. But she came out, wet hair and all to sign PlayBill’s and take pictures and say hi. Then she went back in. I thought that was really cool of her to come out and say hi to us. She was really really nice too!

Wicked’s one year anniversary here is coming up this month I believe. I wonder if they have anything special planned. I’m trying to know ahead of time so I can go. I’m hoping to go see Wicked again next month, and in March for my birthday :)

I had a good day with my husband and sister in law! We ended up spending the rest of the day in Emeryville. I got my moleskins finally! I told you husband *sticks out tongue*.

Spent today updating blogs and trying to tidy up my room. I cleared out one area of my room, whew, that alone made me feel accomplished lol!
